We’re Maxx and Ashley of Mountains 2 Seas. We are a couple of travel loving DINKS who still have normal, 9-5(ish) jobs but have big goals to see the world!
If you share our passion for adventures and travel with a happy hour stop once in a while then you’re in the right place!
Like you, we were tired of the daily 9-5 grind and wanted more out of life. We had goals like touring the 50 states and sailing the world that kept getting bumped into the later category.
Deep down we realized what truly mattered was spending time together, traveling and see the world. We wanted to reclaim the freedom of our 20s and that creative spark to create something of our own.

About Ash
Ashley was born and raised in Northern California in a small town you’ve very likely never heard of called Cool. She was raised on a working horse ranch, riding and caring for horses before she could do anything else. Life on the ranch was part time veterinarian, part time cleaner, part time feeder, and full time animal lover. Ashley even broke (tamed) a few stallions and a lot of Arabians while she was a ranch hand. All before the age of 16.
Her family was incredibly active, seeing to it that she was put on skis before she could walk. When they had the time, the family would weekend away in Tahoe and go skiing whenever they could. Not a family content with downtime, there was always something to do. ((Trust us, that’s a small book right there))
Ashley moved to Lake Tahoe, where she had spent such a large part of her childhood, for college in 2006 and went right back to the resort where she learned to ride but this time she went there to work. Northstar was her home away from home for the longest time and she worked herself into a full time senior manager role while she was there all while taking a full course load in college year after year.
Speaking of college, she happened to meet this guy from So-Cal there and well, the rest as they say…is history.
About Maxx
Maxx was born in Long Beach California and lived in multiple places throughout So-Cal during his childhood. From a very early age, Maxx challenged the norm and always strove for more. He moved out when he was young and after bouncing around little bit, he ended up at Lake Tahoe deciding it looked like a good place to go to college.
During this time, he dove into the hospitality industry via bartending at Northstar California and worked his way through a 5 year program in college to ultimately graduate with two degrees and a beautiful girl by his side.
Maxx has an unquenchable thirst for adventure and never sits still. Always up for any adventure, big or small, he just wants to get out and move. His true passion is outdoor sports and camping and the craft alcohol industry.
Should you ever meet him, feel free to ask about the spirits industry, just be ready for a long chat!
Mountains 2 Seas
After working hospitality all of our 20s, we hit a breaking point as our 30’s approached. Ashley wanted to learn a new profession altogether and Maxx wanted to leave the service industry as well.
We shifted our careers into Tech and Marketing which opened up so many doors of opportunity for us. We were able to get ahead financially, paid off all student debt, and bought our home in Lake Tahoe!
We’re eternally grateful for where we are now and where we came from.
Now, while our new career path has helped us in so many ways… there was still something missing. We had goals like touring the 50 states and sailing the world that kept getting bumped into the later category. Deep down we realized what truly mattered was spending time together, traveling and see the world. We were missing the freedom of our 20s and that creative spark to create something of our own.
After months of debate in December of 2022, we came across the name Mountains 2 Seas. It was the perfect title for us, reflecting our separate upbringings, everything we’ve accomplished and where we’re heading next.
We went back and forth on what this space would look like for us. After a few revisions (and an online course or two) we’ve dialed it in and this website was born!
We’re here to:
– Share our years of knowledge of Lake Tahoe, California, Nevada and beyond!
– Share our adventures and show you that anyone can take the leap and travel.
– Document our adventures and holding ourselves accountable in making our goals and dreams come true.
