Diamond Peak, 60 Years Strong
It’s no secret that Lake Tahoe is home to some of the best skiing and snowboarding on the west coast. There is a place for all skill levels and ride styles everywhere you look. From high alpine advanced terrain, to backcountry, bunny hills and parks, Tahoe has a ski slope for everyone. It also goes without saying, that riding here in Lake Tahoe can provide some of the most magnificent views you’ll ever see. Most everyone knows the view from Heavenly Ski resort in South Lake, or the top of Palisades looking west, but how many know of the best view in all of Tahoe?
Tucked away in the northeast corner of the lake, in the town of Incline Village rests the ski resort of Diamond Peak. Diamond Peak is a smaller mountain compared to some of the others around, but it doesn’t lack for advanced terrain, park features and tree runs. There are so many little pockets of snow to go find here, you’d be hard pressed to do it in a day. What really makes Diamond peak stand head and shoulders above the rest, (in our opinion at least) is the view.

This view as you ride down Crystal Ridge is unbelievable. There is no more uninterrupted and unobstructed view of the lake while skiing or riding as far as we know. On a fresh powder day, you can enjoy this view on repeat as you continue to come back to the top and dip back into the trees all day long, or unlit your legs turn to rubber.
Riding at Diamond is great for groups too because you would be hard pressed to get lost here. All runs funnel back down to the primary lifts and the main lodge. After you have hot lapped Crystal and need a break, you can ride the Lakeview Chair for yet MORE views of Lake Tahoe, and hop off at the top for Snowflake Lodge to grab a bite to eat and a happy hour drink.

Diamond Peak has also recently added new hidden/ adventurous runs all around the mountain that are super fun to ride! Fun fact, I actually got to name one of the runs!
This year is also Diamond Peaks 60’th season!!! Having opened in 1966 with three lifts and a T-bar tow, Diamond Peak has been offering up amazing runs and views since then. Also, do you know that Diamond Peak was the first resort in the basin to have a snowmaking system installed? Fun fact!
In honor of their 60th season, they are going to be offering special deals, promotions and parties as well through the season. Go to their website www.diamondpeak.com or their instagram to stay on top of the latest fun activities they are offering.

Our favorite day at Diamond Peak is always going to be powder days off crystal and then taking a break at Snowflake Lodge, and wrapping up with powder laps down G.S and OH god which are ungroomed runs that drop off just below the deck at Snowflake. Days like that are unbeatable.
The best part? Diamond Peak is perfectly positioned to hold fresh snow for a few days after a storm as well making fresh tracks a real possibility for multiple days in a row. You don’t find that at most of the resorts.
Suffice to say, having started our lives in the ski industry, and ridden tons of terrain together, both Ash and I agree that Diamond Peak truly is a gem, and one of the best mountains we’ve ridden. If you get the chance this winter, check them out and come see the views for yourself. Be sure to book in advance so you can just pick up tickets and get riding as soon as you can!
Hopefully we’ll see you out there! Here’s to a great winter!
